version city

FAQ

What is it?
Version City is a work of interactive cinema for public big screens.

How do people play with it?
The technology, completely invisible to the user, allows passersby to control the action up on the screen by using the keypad of their cellphones. According to these key-presses, the film unfolds through a binary branching structure; The caller is prompted to choose one of two story-options at the end of each scene. Ultimately, this branching method leads to one of sixteen possible endings.

What about multiple callers?
Version City is designed to be used by one user at a time, and forms a queue of waiting callers. They are asked if they’d like a return call, and are called back in the order that they entered the system.

What kind of software do I need to play?
If you’ve got a cellphone, you’re all set. There is no need for additional software to be installed on your phone - all the technology’s on our end.

Will there be a charge on my cellphone bill?
Nope. Only whatever your carrier charges for a normal local call.

Ok, so what’s the story?
There are 16 stories. You choose. And they’re all top secret!

Who made this thing?
